North Madison Christian Church describes itself as a different type of church. “We are not a traditional church,” church leaders write. “You will not find pews or hymnals. While there is nothing wrong with either of these things, it’s just not how we choose to communicate. We admit we’re a little unorthodox, but we also admit we like it that way.”

So, when they came to realize their space wasn’t matching their message, they turned to Mankin Media Systems for some help. North Madison’s location was outdated and needed a complete overhaul. They wanted to design a space that was inviting, modern and created a unique ambiance while theatrical in nature. North Madison wanted to receive new systems, audio video and lighting.

Instead of going the conventional route with screens and projectors, they wanted to invest in LED video walls. North Madison wanted IMAG side screens to show service information, song lyrics and bible verses. They wanted a large LED wall in the center for graphics, scene and set design.

Mankin Media Systems led the design and included camera platforms in the main space, a separate video control room and everything North Madison Christian Church needed to showcase content and provide HD IMAG during services.

Audio and Video Design and Implementation (North Madison Christian Church)

Madison, Indiana
Project Size: 301-800 seats
Completion Date: June 15, 2014

Realizing the constant growth at North Madison, Mankin provided an “overflow” space. This meant that even if the church maxed out seating capacity, they wouldn’t have to turn away guests. The video and audio system would be fed to the lobby, where it showed up on many of the TVs mounted throughout the space. By having this additional “overflow” accommodation, people were met with a welcoming area to casually watch services, drink coffee and enjoy fellowship.

The audio system installed was a Nexo system, GEO S12 line array with RS18 subs and PS series fill speakers. To complete the system, a Yamaha CL series digital console was included.

The Yamaha CL series digital console was bought early in the planning stages and implemented into the existing system to use until the new area was developed. This meant the staff and volunteers would have time to train on the system prior to transitioning to a new space.

Part of North Madison’s dream was to provide a small audio system for their lobby and to have a nursery/cry room where families could go and watch the speaker live. North Madison also desired a lighting system that was brand new and cutting edge.

Centralized ETC dimmers, moving lights and a JANDS lighting console were put in place. A lighting truss was installed over the stage where chain motors were employed to be raised and lowered with a lot of movement. This gave North Madison the ability to “change it up” with new looks to achieve whatever mood they desired.

The new and improved space implemented by Mankin Media Systems enabled North Madison to match their vision to their modern message.
