Berean needed a refresh and reuse of their existing Burnsville facility, to create space for a quality connections cafe and secure, vibrant and relevant education spaces for their Berean Kids Ministry.

Berean’s main goal of this project was to refresh and reuse 35,000 square feet of their existing facility to create a quality connections cafe and secure, vibrant, zoned and relevant education spaces for their Berean Kids Ministry Pre-K through 6th Grade. It was an incredible transformation from the drab 1980’s / 1990’s buildings while effectively utilizing the existing building’s structure into refreshed spaces for the next generation.
The church’s existing library was refreshed into the new connections cafe. The space opens up to the large lobby and is visible to both of Berean’s main entries. The space is designed to be a cozy alcove off the main lobby where groups can meet all week long at small tables, lounge seating or community tables. The church teamed with City Kid Java to implement the cafe as a welcoming community and global partnership.
Church Design Gathering and Community Spaces (Berean Baptist Church)
Project Size: 801-2000 seats
Completion Date: November 2, 2015
The existing Berean Kids space was dated, un-secure and unclear. The classrooms were reconfigured, rezoned and refreshed into a secure, vibrant and relevant space for kids babies to 6th grade. Quality welcome, guest services and check in counters were designed on two levels with similar but unique details. Each room from the preschool through 6th grade have a unique look yet tie together as one Berean Kids story. Collaboration and coordination between the church and the Preschool for the sharing of the classrooms, office space and storage was an integral part of the projects success.
