Churches by Daniels has completed a sanctuary remodel for Asbury First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK. It teamed with AE Global Media in order to provide a complete design-build package for the entire project, including all of the construction and AVL elements.

The project began with the removal of the whisper wall behind the stage and the installation of stone to update the look. To counteract the acoustic challenges of this type of treatment, a complete new audio system was installed. Asbury now has the largest environmental projection system (in a church) in the US, which enables the AVL staff to create custom graphics displayed in a panoramic view in the sanctuary.

Sanctuary Remodel (Asbury United Methodist Church)

Tulsa, Oklahoma
Project Size: 801-2000 seats
Completion Date: May 1, 2014

LED lighting was added to outline the chancel, back wall, stage, overhead and also hung in the ceiling. The team then extended the thrust 12 feet, as the speakers were updated and high-definition screens installed. We updated the system with a media server along with new distribution boards and installed new carpet in the sanctuary and vinyl on the chancel.

One of the team’s goals for this project was to bring in modern contemporary elements while still enabling the traditional elements to shine through. All of this was done to create an exciting environment for worship.
