Woodlake Assembly of God was a design-build 27,000 sf. new construction worship facility. The Church partnered with Goff Companies to develop and produce a phased master site plan, with a Phase I consisting of a 500 seat auditorium, children?s area, and commons space.

Before the construction started, everyone involved attempted to do one thing:
Develop a multiple phase project strategy that can be constructed with minimal future impact while maximizing the full potential of their new site.
With the help from our design partner, Good Fulton and Farrell Architects, and our in-house team of ministers, architects, and constructors, we strove to develop a site strategy for multiple building phases without major impacts.

Our planning process began with extensive fact-finding that touches on all aspects of the project to fully understand the opportunities and challenges of the proposed Phase 1 and future expansion. We considered the following elements in allowing for a smooth transition into future building phases:
Our team developed an affordable design and constructability that addressed current program requirements. All of the Phase 1 components dictated a requirement for a balance between worship seats, children education and parking spaces.
Establishing the required circulation locations was essential for the success of phase 1 as well as for future expansions. How and where these circulation systems connect were critical when developing future planning options.
Parking Impact and Site Utilization
Our planning options for future additions addressed the impacts to existing site conditions. Our goal was to not incur the requirement for paving demolition during future expansion phases. How parking needs were addressed, what site infrastructure was affected, and how site accessibility is altered played a role in the current phase and future phase planning.

Our team decided to use Tilt wall construction as a common material for all phases. Additionally, by choosing to use this material, Woodlake was able to stay within their financial capacity as well.
Goff Companies successfully implemented a balanced Phase 1 facility, which included 500 worship seats, a large commons and secure children space. Additionally, we were able to develop a Phase 1A that would expand the worship room to 800 seats, which would be prior to the full 1500 seat build out. By reviewing and understanding multiple data tables in growth and financial capacities, we determined a smaller, or Phase 1A expansion, could be introduced prior to Phase 2. Plan to Build and Build to Plan works every time.
